Celebs, Kimmel join forces in faux movie trailer

What do you do after the trailer for a movie you never made gets 20 million hits on YouTube? That's a question Jimmy Kimmel had to answer after his "Movie: The Movie" star-studded parody racked up huge numbers of clicks following its post-2012 Oscars premiere.

But he knew what had to be done: Make another one!

"When you have a big success in Hollywood, there's only one reasonable thing you can do, and that is is cheapen it with a sequel," he told his "Live!" audience Sunday night after the 2013 awards fest. Then he premiered ... "Movie: The Movie: 2V."

Yet again the world is in danger, and it's up to Kimmel to organize the forces of good to save everybody. But this time there's no meteor hurtling toward the planet -- instead, sexy, deadly vampires, mummies and leprechauns have unleashed the "sexpocalypse," and no one is safe. Kimmel plays the double-eyepatch-wearing leader of an "Avengers"-esque task force that is the Earth's only hope.

Here's what you can expect from the 7-minute-plus trailer:

• Jessica Chastain, watching the carnage, noting "Teenage girls and their weird moms don't stand a chance."
• Gerard Butler imitating Liam Neeson's fierce, family-saving character from "Taken."
• Brian Cranston playing the piano with his face.
• John Krasinski morphing into a crime-fighting crustacean. "It's shrimpin' time," he gloats.
• President Oprah Winfrey.
• Kimmel's nemesis Matt Damon, in a full-body motion-capture suit eating a sandwich, kind of.
• Amanda Seyfried singing and breakdancing in a "Les Miserables" dress.
• A giant Channing Tatum saving the world.
• Samuel L. Jackson toppling over an even more enormous Jenga game, also to save the world.

Yes, there's some swearing, but it's bleeped out. And, as Kimmel promises at the end of the video, Monday night's show will feature "a special behind-the-scenes look at the making of 'Movie: The Movie: 2V' for film buffs."

"Jimmy Kimmel Live!" airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. on ABC.

North Korea issues warning to US military

(CNN) -

Ahead of annual, routine military exercises between South Korea and the United States, North Korea issued its usual caustic objections Saturday.

It threatened "miserable destruction," if "your side ignites a war of aggression by staging the reckless joint military exercises ... at this dangerous time."

Though customary, the stark posturing by North Korea stands in the shadow of an underground nuclear test two weeks ago that was preceded by the launch of a long-range missile capable of transporting a warhead.

The detonation of the nuclear charge was the third in Pyongyang's history and the first under supreme leader Kim Jong Un's rule. South Korea's military reacted with fierce military drills, including a public display of newly deployed cruise missiles with pinpoint accuracy.

It has been on heightened readiness ever since.

The test also triggered a global wave of condemnation, including from Beijing, and plans for new sanctions against Pyongyang.

North Korea issued the objections to exercises Key Resolve and Foal Eagle scheduled for March and April to U.S. commander James D. Sherman, state run news agency KCNA reported.

The message was delivered over the phone in English, South Korean news agency Yonhap reported.

It also condemned the threat of new sanctions over North Korea's recent actions.

A United Nations military commission informed Pyongyang of the upcoming routine exercises, according to a joint statement from U.S. and South Korean military officials.

The commission also told North Korea that they are "not related with the current situations on the Korean Peninsula."

Around 10,000 U.S. forces will participate in Foal Eagle from March 1 to April 30. Key Resolve will involve 10,000 South Korean troops and 3,500 U.S. troops in exercises March 11 to 21.

Key Resolve will include U.N. troops and neutral supervisors.

Sports injury workshop to be held in Terrace

As children become more serious about sports at a younger age, the likelihood that they will sustain a sports injury increases.

But there?s a workshop coming to Terrace the evening of Feb. 21 aiming to teach parents, coaches, administrators and officials what they can do to prevent sports injuries, how to recognize them, and whether or not the young athletes they know have ever sustained a sports-related injury.

Sportsmart is a 90-minute workshop aims to keep more children out of the emergency room ? sports related injuries among youth account for close to 20 per cent of all hospital emergency room visits among children in Canada.

And it is estimated that up to 50 per cent of sports injuries are preventable and that parents and coaches hold the keys to some of the most effective sports injury prevention strategies, according to material provided by Sportsmart.

?This workshop has been getting hundreds of people attending in southern B.C., mainly due to the alarming increase in sports injuries in the youth over the past few years,? said Carmen Didier, the City of Terrace?s director of leisure services.

The city, SportMed BC, and Pacific Sport Northern BC are providing the workshop, which does require registration.
